William F. Tate IV is the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. He also directs the Center for the Study of Regional Competitiveness in Science and Technology and serves as chair of the Department of Education. In addition, Professor Tate maintains Washington University academic and research appointments in the Center for Applied Statistics, Institute for Public Health, and Urban Studies. He is a past president of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and has served as an editor of AERA's peer-reviewed, scholarly quarterly American Educational Research Journal.
